Renewal Model
The Renewal Communications Model is a theoretical way of looking at how communications
can create long term cultural change to improve social conditions. Developed by Anne Durham
of Mountainside Media and Steve Heasley of Heasley Consulting, the Renewal Model redefines
the role of the professional communicator as a facilitator of participatory strategies that
promote citizen engagement and community well-being. It is a helpful tool for implementing
prevention strategies and community and economic development efforts.
